Journalists named in South Africa’s stormy Bosasa scandal probe

Names of three journalists have been spilled in the ongoing investigations on the Bosasa bribery scandal. While speaking before the Zondo Commission which is tasked with probing the graft allegations, former Bosasa boss Angelo Agrizzi made a sensational claim of how company’s facilities management procured services of journalists to churn stories that would counter negative publicity facing Bosasa at the time.

He said: “At the time Bosasa was going through a rough patch regarding negative reporting from certain journalists. He said he could arrange some friends who could sway the reports on Bosasa and would also write positive stories on Bosasa,” as revealed by South Africa’s news site IOL.

Pinky Khoabane, who worked with defunct newspaper New Age has been implicated.  The other two have been identified as "Bongs" from Eastern Cape and "Nthuli" from The Star, IOL reveals.

Mr Agrizzi said that the trio received R 30,000 from Bosasa officials to embark on a spin campaign.

At the centre of the Bosasa scandal is the family of former President Jacob Zuma’s son Dudu Myeni who has been fingered as a beneficiary in the scandal.
