Two passengers die in Kericho accident

Two female passengers died while 37 others suffered various body injuries after they were involved in a road accident along the Londiani-Muhoroni road. 

The deceased and the survivors were traveling in bus belonging Transmara Bus Company when the accident occurred near Barsiele shopping center. 

James Mugera, the Kericho county police commander, confirmed the 3AM Tuesday accident. 

“37 other passengers who were traveling in the ill-fated bus who suffered various body injuries were taken to Londiani sub County hospital,” he said. 

Anne Soy, the Londiani sub county hospital nursing officer said they had treated and discharged 36 of the survivors who had suffered soft body tissue injuries.

"We nonetheless, referred to Kericho County hospital for further treatment a patient who had suffered multiple fractures during the accident," she said.  

The Londiani-Muhoroni highway is a winding road with sections of it yet to be marked. 

The road came into the limelight last year after 56 passengers aboard Homeboys bus belonging to Western Cross Company died after the bus veered off the road and rolled down the slope. 

The accident occurred at Tunnel blackspot near Fort-ternan trading center. 

 “We plead motorists to exercise caution at all the times when driving through the roads as well as the other roads in the county,” said Mugera.
