Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has paid a courtesy call to Tanzanian President John Pombe Magufuli, just hours after news broke that he fell ill after watching Sportpesa SuperCup match yesterday in Dar es Salaam.

Mr Odinga had attended a cup final competition match pitting two Kenyan sides, Kariobangi Sharks versus Bandari FC, in which the former won by a solitary goal.

A video circulating in social media shows ODM Odinga being escorted off the podium, struggling to stay on his feet seconds after presenting the trophy to players.

However, in a quick response, his spokesman Dennis Onyango on Sunday evening alleviated any cause for alarm stating that his condition was stable.

Onyango tweeted via ODM Party twitter handle:

“H.E Raila Odinga is fine in Dar. Images of security people holding him emerged from a step on the podium that was falling off and not anything to do with health. Thanks to everyone who has expressed concern. Dennis Onyango.”

The ODM Party leader has come out Monday morning to reveal that he has visited his long-term friend President Magufuli, again maintaining that he is in god medical shape.

Mr Odinga tweeted: “I paid a courtesy call on my friend President Magufuli this morning. We compared notes on regional issues.”
