Marende among 14 shortlisted for chairman of NPSC post

Former House Speaker Kenneth Marende is among 14 individuals shortlisted for interviews for the position of chairperson of the National Police Service Commission.

In the category of retired police officers, 10 were shortlisted. Another 39 were shortlisted in the public section.

Interviews for the candidates start on January 28, and end on February 2, the selection panel appointed to steer the recruitment said.

Panel chair Stephen Kirogo (right) said they sought to recruit three commissioners from the public, a chair and two others  from retired police officers.

The move follows the exit of former commissioners led by Johnston Kavuludi after their six-year tenure ended.

Others shortlisted for the post of the chairman include Lady Justice Joice Aluoch, Dr Zachary Mwangi, Elijah Kodoh, Peter ole Nkuraiyia, Mukhtar Abdi, Eliud Kinuthia, Lucy Wanja, Elijah Nduati, Irene Wanyoike, Margaret Cheboiywo, Lucy Karuru, Albert Bwire and Kinuthia Wamwangi.
