Mt Kenya and Makerere universities sign deal

Two East African universities have struck an exchange programme that will benefit thousands of students.

Mount Kenya University Vice Chancellor Stanley Waudo and Makerere University Vice Chancellor Barnabas Nawangwe last week signed a deal that will see them spend millions of shillings in research and students exchange programmes.

The agreement involves exchange programmes for academic staff and students, research cooperation in fields of mutual interest, developing better teaching methods and techniques and organise joint symposia, workshops and conferences.

In the deal that covers a period of five years, the universities will share learning materials, comprehensive and regular exchange of information at the institutional level.

The exchange of researchers, students and academic and administrative staff will be done based of the spirit of equivalency and mutual interest.

Mount Kenya university has 11 campuses in Kenya and one in Rwanda while Makerere is domiciled in Uganda.
