A four-year-old girl was defiled and murdered in Molo.

Shantel Njeri went missing on Sunday afternoon after attending a church service at Jesus Restoration Centre (JRC) in Subukia.

Her mutilated body was found dumped in a waste bin at a nearby slaughterhouse. It was in a bag.

“My daughter was tortured by the kidnappers. She was defiled and later killed in cold blood,” said Njeri’s mother Anne Mwende, 31. She is a casual labourer at Bahati hospital.

Ms Mwende said her mother, Eunice Wambui, told her that Njeri was missing.

Mwende reported the matter to the Subukia Police Station as her family started searching for Njeri.

Yesterday police informed her that Njeri’s body had been found.

The child was expected to join pre-primary school on Monday this week.

Ms Wambui asked police to expedite their investigations.

She said the family wanted justice for Njeri. She said she never disagreed with anybody in the area.

According to Wambui, it was not the first time Njeri was attending a church service alone.

She said she suspected that kidnappers abducted the child as she walked home.

“I am not aware of any dispute with anybody in the area. I have no idea who I have wronged such that they could hold a grudge against us. Police should help us by speeding up their investigations,” Wambui said.

Subukia police boss Jacinta Wangechi said investigations had started and that officers were waiting for the postmortem report.

The body was taken to the Nyahururu hospital mortuary.
