Class Eight pupil defiled by gang still in critical state

A Standard Eight girl who was defiled by a gang may not resume learning soon, as she remains in critical condition.

The pupil is set to undergo surgery at Homa Bay County Referral Hospital. Medics said the 13-year-old suffered severe injuries that interfered with her excretory system.

Yesterday, the hospital acting Chief Executive Officer Meshack Liru said the most injured parts on the minor’s body were the birth canal and rectum.

The minor's assailants mutilated her genitals with a razor blade.

Serious condition

“The razor blade cut... put her in a serious health condition. The minor is in danger hence she has to undergo surgical operations to correct the anomalies in her body,” Dr Liru said.

The medic said they would also establish if she was infected with any sexually transmitted infection.

Homa Bay Deputy OCPD Sammy Nyongesa said they had made three arrests.
