Governor Roba comes to the rescue of North Eastern top student

The top student in North Eastern region Bushra Ahmed Abubakar who scored 423 marks in KCPE will smile her way into high school after her four-year school fees was paid in advance.

The young girl who aspires to be surgeon had her fees paid up by Mandera Governor Ali Roba who issued a Sh215,000 bankers cheque to Pangani Girls High School to cover her four years’ education.

A desperate Bushra had her case highlighted by KTN News as she was unable to raise fees and secure shopping for her high school requirements. Students admitted to Form One are expected to report to school beginning today through to Wednesday.

Bushra was accompanied by her ailing father Ahmed Abubakar, her uncle who is also the Wargadud MCA Alinoor Derow and senior officials of the County.

"I am keen on supporting inclusive education of all our girls and this is a personal support to help a child from vulnerable back ground access education,” Governor Roba insisted.

Bushra also received KSh100,000 to support with school uniforms and personal effects.

“We’re so grateful and thankful to for this noble gesture expressed by the governor. We were literally stranded and my daughter’s hope of joining Pangani Girls High School were dimmed but now she will gladly report to school and pursue her dreams”, added the father.

Her enthusiastic uncle Derow added, “As family, we are glad that after our daughter’s plight was raised, the governor came to our rescue and now with this scholarship, she will finally report to school. We have no reason to wait further but ensure that we take her to school immediately.”
