Police in Kirinyaga County have arrested four officials of Mburi Farmers Cooperative Society in connection with theft of 55 bags of parchment coffee valued at Sh2.4 million that was due for delivery to a miller in Nyeri County.

The coffee was stolen from a store on Wednesday. County Police Commander Lea Kithei Ngutu said police officers have obtained some leads which could help recover the stolen coffee and arrest suspects. The police boss also said two of the four night guards who were attacked during the theft were in critical condition.

“The four suspects are due to appear in court and this time round we must crack down on those involved in coffee theft,” she said.
