A family at Makutano village, Mbeere South sub-county, is demanding justice after a Form Three student was killed by a vehicle that was transporting miraa a week ago.

Speaking on Saturday during the burial of Caroline Mbene,17, her father, Samson Mulangu, said they have not received any communication from the police about the incident.

Mulangu urged mourners to drop planned demonstration and let the police carry out their work.

Mbene was a student at Gategi Girls Secondary School.

Area OCPD Ahamed Mohammed said he was personally trying to get in touch with the father to write a statement about the incident.

He also confirmed the vehicle has since been impounded after it was traced somewhere in Nairobi, where the driver dumped it and went into hiding.

“It has not been easy to trace that vehicle since the driver switched off his phone and went underground while its registration number plate had one letter missing, making the search an uphill task, “Mohamed said.

He said the vehicle has since been towed to Mukutano Police Station.
