Leading youth entrepreneurs of the year unveiled

The winners of the Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award 2018 have been unveiled.

Expeditions Maasai Safaris co-founder Pancras Mwangi (pictured) scooped the Male Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award, flooring fellow nominees Ben Gacari of Property Reality Company, Eugene Mbugua (Young Rich Television Ltd) and Meshak Alloys (Sendy) in the category.

Mr Mwangi attributed the firm’s success to consistent customer service, a dedicated team and speed of adapting to the changing needs of the modern traveller.

“As an entrepreneur, I have learnt on several occasions that you must be very patient, consistent, constantly learn and improve on feedback from client and the market, as well as be willing to take calculated risks,” he said.

The awards, whose results were announced online recently, are designed to identify upcoming and industrious entrepreneurs aged below 35 years with great business acumen. The annual awards seek to create a network of outstanding young entrepreneurs and encourage more youths to start their own businesses. Voting was done online.

Michelle Ntalami of Malini Naturals Young Entrepreneur won in the female category. Other winners included Tim Kipchumba of Questworks (Real Estate), Samuel Majani of Ghafla (Digital Technology), Rodgers Kirwa of iAgribiz Africa (Agripreneur), Anyiko Owoko of Anyiko Public Relations (Service Industry), Abel Mutua of Phil-It (Entertainment) and Mercy Kyallo of Yallo Ltd (Manufacturing).

Mr Mwangi and the other winners will get marketing and other business support services worth over Sh1 million.

He co-founded Expeditions Maasai Safaris Ltd with his fellow team leader Lawrence Ndegea.
