Ninth candidate nationally already joined high school

Even before the release of KCPE results, Chantal Njeri Njue had already been selected to join her dream secondary school.

With 446 marks, Chantal was the leading candidate at Thika Road Christian School and the ninth nationally.

Months before sitting KCPE, Chantal was finalising preparations to join the prestigious St Andrew’s School Turi near Nakuru town.

Part of the preparations included a special entry examination.

When she took the assessment test in the second term, Chantal performed exceedingly well, so much so that St Andrew’s admitted her as an academic scholar.

The headmaster, Andrew Boulle, termed Chantal as an excellent addition to the St Andrew’s family.

Academic scholar

Speaking to The Standard, Chantal said it was her decision to join St Andrew’s and that her parents supported her.

Frankie Gichuru, the St Andrew’s director of admissions and marketing, said that that right from the initial assessment, the school recognised Chantal’s exceptional brightness.

“St Andrew’s is a very selective school. Students have to go through a thorough assessment to join. For Chantal, the school expects a lot of her owing to her academic scholar status.”

Adjusting well

Chantal joined the school on November 4, two months after the first term that began in September. Ms Gichuru said she was adjusting well.

Chantal is currently in year nine. She will have to sit the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) and A-Level exams to graduate high school.
