Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi have widely been considered the world's best players for a little over a decade now.

The duo have pretty much taken it in turns winning the Ballon d'Or since Kaka was last named the world's best player in 2008, and have both tasted success in La Liga and in the Champions League.

Mesut Ozil took part in a Twitter Q&A on Wednesday and was asked to name the best player he has ever lined up against and the best player he has ever faced.

He took it as the perfect opportunity to pick between the world's best in a diplomatic way, name-dropping both Messi and Ronaldo when answering.

During his career the German has lined up alongside some seriously good players at Real Madrid, Arsenal and for his national team - think - Sergio Ramos, Xabi Alonso, Alexis Sanchez, Jerome Boateng and Toni Kroos to name but a few.

But for Ozil there is one man at the top of the pile and that is Ronaldo.

As for who the Arsenal star has come up against, there are even more glittering names.

However, no name sparkles quite as much as Messi's, according to Ozil, who named him as the best player he has ever come up against.

Ozil also revealed who he thinks is Arsenal's best youngster, and named Matteo Guendouzi, who he referred to as a "brilliant player".

Arsenal parted with just £6million to land the Frenchman from FC Lorient in the summers' transfer window, and no one knew who he was prior to his arrival.

But he's been sensational for the Gunners in his debut season, and has cemented himself a place in the first team at the expense of some very experienced players.
