Oscar Wamalwa came off the bench to score a brace as Ulinzi Stars rallied to beat Nakumatt 3-2 in today's Kenyan Premier League at Kenyatta Stadium, Machakos.

Elvis Nandwa cancelled out Brian Nyakan's opener in the 36th minute before Wamalwa scored from a penalty followed by Donald Mosoti's equaliser from the the spot.

Nakumatt started the brighter side forcing Ulinzi Stars goalkeeper Jacktone Odhiambo to come off his line to deny Nyakan a scoring opportunity in the sixth minute.

However, Nyakan made the amends two minutes later when he beat Odhiambo with a powerful shot at the near post from a tight angle.

Masita Masuta could have drawn level after two minutes but he collided with keeper Lucas Indeche while trying to connect a cross from the right before he was forced to leave the pitch injured on the half hour mark with Wamalwa replacing him.

Odhiambo came to the soldiers' rescue in the 34th minute when he carried away John Njoroge's free kick for a fruitless corner.

Ulinzi responded immediately through a counter attack that saw Elvis Nandwa easily beat goalkeeper Lucas Indeche from Wamalwa's cross.

Benard Ongoma thought he had given Ulinzi the lead on the stroke of halftime only for the referee to rule his goal offside.

Kelvin Thairu then ballooned his effort in the box after being set up by Timonah Wanyonyi, two minutes into the second half before Nandwa was denied by the post on the opposite end.

Substitute Kasuti would force a brilliant save from Indeche with his first touch on the pitch on the hour mark.

Moments later, Wanyonyi wasted a golden scoring chance, heading wide Thairu's well delivered free kick.

Indeche then pulled off another superb save from Kasuti before the speedy winger earned the first penalty for Ulinzi after before being fouled in the box in the 74th minute. Wamalwa stepped up to take the resulting free kick, sending the goalkeeper the wrong way and hand the soldiers the lead.

However, Donald Mosoti restored parity after ten minutes when he made no mistake to convert his penalty after Mohammed Hassan's handball in the box.

But the former Gor Mahia's defender celebration was short lived as Wamalwa made no mistake to convert his second penalty and secure the maximum points for Ulinzi.
