Outreach programme will ensure mothers access quality services

Kirinyaga County Government is working with churches, the Provincial Administration and NGOs to ensure mothers access quality pre- and post-natal services.

Speaking after launching the ‘Linda Mama initiative’ at Kimbimbi hospital, Governor Anne Waiguru said the outreach programme will ensure mothers access quality services.

The governor said already, 300 mothers have been registered under the programme through the NHIF. At the same time, Ms Waiguru announced that Kerugoya, Kimbimbi, Sagana, Kianyaga, Baricho and Kiamutugu hospitals will be upgraded.

“In the next two weeks, I will commission the ground breaking for the upgrade of these hospitals to Level Four status and Kerugoya hospital to Level Five,” she said.

She revealed that her government has signed an MOU with the Kenya Red Cross (KRC) for the supply of ambulances equipped with ICU facilities to five hospitals.
