Nairobi, Kenya: A military store at the Department of Defence (DoD) headquarters in Nairobi was on Monday morning gutted down by fire.

The cause of the fire was not immediately established. No one was injured in the fire that broke out at about 5.30 am.

Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) spokesman Colonel David Obonyo confirmed the incident, saying no one was injured during the dawn fire.

Col Obonyo said the inferno could have been caused by an electric fault but investigators were trying to establish the cause.

It took firefighters more than an hour to put out the fire which destroyed property of unknown value.

The firefighters managed to prevent the fire from spreading to other buildings. Police and military officials say they are probing cause of the inferno. Several fire engines rushed there to help contain the fire.
