The county could face serious water scarcity by 2030 due  to lack of proper distribution infrastructure, experts have warned.

Water experts attending an investment conference in Kisumu said a growing population had outstripped clean water supply, warning the situation could worsen in the coming years unless heavy investments are committed in the sector.

Kisumu Governor Peter Anyang' Nyong'o and the Managing Director of Kisumu Water and Sewerage Company (KIWASCO) David Onyango agreed that although the county had plenty of water in Lake Victoria, it lacked distribution infrastructure.
