'Githeri man' among the surprise guests invited to Uhuru's inauguration

As Kenyans await the inauguration ceremony of President-elect Uhuru Kenyatta on Tuesday, November 28, some will get the chance to actually celebrate with Uhuru in the State luncheon thereafter.

The inauguration will take place at Moi International Sports Centre Kasarani.

The luncheon, hosted by the President himself and First lady Margaret Kenyatta will be attended by government officials, heads of states and government representatives from across the world. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Tanzanian President John Magufuli will grace the occasion.

The ceremony organizing committee led by Chief of Staff of the President & Head of Public Service Joseph Kinyua invited all the presidential candidates to the last election and their running mates to the event among others.

National Super Alliance (NASA) leaders, however, declined the offer.

The committee, which set the budget at a whooping Ksh 300 million said they have made plans for over 100, 000 Kenyans to follow the event by mounting high technology screens outside the 60,000 capacity stadium.

A number of lucky Kenyans who have in one way or another touched the hearts of Kenyans will have a chance to dine with dignitaries. Those include KCPE 2017 champion Goldalyn Kakuya, Martin Kamotho, commonly known as Githeri man, John Gichuhi Macharia who caught the attention of Kenyans after voting using his legs during the October 26 elections, Ben Githae, the musician behind the Tano Tena song among others.

Goldalyn, who emerged top in the recently announced Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (K.C.P.E) will be dining with the president for the second time in a week.
