A post by former Kakamega senator Boni Khalwale has kicked off a storm in social media after he tweeted in support of a lynch mob in his county.
Khalwale’s graphic tweet that showed a man half burnt after he was set ablaze for allegedly stealing a motorbike did not sit well with some of his followers.
They accused him of propagating lawlessness yet he had been a fiery advocate for the rule of law when he was a legislator.
Others, however, sided with Khalwale saying that the instant justice being meted on alleged gangsters was the way to go to curb the surging crime in the county.
Here are the reactions that followed the tweet;
This thug came to Malinya & robbed a bodaboda rider of his motor bike. Unfortunately he forgot that this's the land of bullfighters! pic.twitter.com/9wbT4gVX3g

Why do we advocate for justice & still go for mob justice in the name of “bull fighters” land. there are bull fighters who wouldn’t do this

You can't on one hand fight for rule of law on elections then advocate for this. Are there no courts or jails in the land of bullfighters?

To those saying this is wrong, had this thug killed the bike owner what would we be talking about here?

Mheshimiwa, I have a lot of respect for you. But on this one, I think as a leader you are wrong on your attitude. Remember you are a leade r of both "saints" and "sinners". You need to propagate and model rule of law. No one has right to take another's life!
