What Uhuru said when he was asked to describe Raila during an interview

President Uhuru Kenyatta described Opposition leader Raila Odinga as his elderly brother. He said this in an interview with Radio Jambo on October 23.

During the interview, the president said all Kenyans have a right to vote or not to vote and to stay in peace. He asked Kenyans to continue with their normal lives after the October 26 presidential reelection.

The president replied to a question about the proposed dialogue talks by saying that Kenyans should get their right of choosing their preferred leader before anything else.

Towards the end of the interview, when asked to describe Raila, Uhuru called him an elder brother and said whatever is happening between them right now is nothing personal.

“Sometimes we converge and agree, other times, which is acceptable in the new society we disagree”, he said.

He also said that the Independent Electoral Commission’s (IEBC) major task is to prepare the election and leave politics to politicians.
