A presidential contender has criticised the electoral commission's call for dialogue between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Opposition leader Raila Odinga.

Thirdway Alliance Kenya candidate Ekuru Aukot's remarks come a few days before next week's repeat presidential poll.

Dr Aukot accused the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) of kowtowing to the National Super Alliance (NASA) presidential candidate by urging for talks between him and Uhuru to end the political crisis.

Aukot told IEBC not to embrace Raila, saying the NASA candidate had withdrawn from the October 26 repeat election.

He said the solution to the stalemate could only be resolved by the fresh poll. Aukot dismissed claims that dialogue could end the impasse or guarantee a free and credible election.

He said political settlement pushed by NASA and Jubilee politicians was selfish and that such moves were a recipe for the current political situation in Kenya.

“If a player has said he isn't going to play, why is the referee still insisting on talks with him?” said Aukot yesterday.

He said IEBC had no option but to hold the election as ordered by the Supreme Court.

Aukot told IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati to stop “dancing” to Jubilee and NASA music.
