Opposition leader Raila Odinga has now abandoned his call of ‘No reforms, No elections’, to ‘No elections in October.’

The National Super Alliance (NASA) leader also announced major countrywide anti-Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) demonstrations on October 26 - the date of repeat polls.

Raila said the Electoral agency’s Commissioner Roselyne Akombe's resignation is just a tip of the iceberg and has now vindicated them of their claims against the commission.

He said that  the Wafula Chebukati led Commission is being micromanaged from State House with majority of the commissioners and top IEBC officials taking instructions from State House and the Harambee House Annex.

However, Raila reiterated that he is ready for talks to have the electoral body reformed ahead of any election that will be free, fair, credible and transparent elections.

“Today we are changing our clarion call from no reforms no elections to no election in October. IEBC has been taken hostage by Jubilee. Four Commissioners are taking instructions from State House, we cannot go to an election with such people in office,” said Raila, at a political rally at Kamkunji grounds in Shauri Moyo.

And although Raila’s name will be on the ballot on October 26, at least according to IEBC, the former Premier insisted that the daily demonstrations will resume on Monday with a clarion call that for a credible elections to take place, there must a conducive environment.

The Opposition leaders also called on the Commission’s Chairman Wafula Chebukati to follow Akombe and exit the Commission to save the country from the imminent disintegration and disunity.

Raila was accompanied by NASA principals Musalia Mudavadi, Moses Wetangula and a host of NASA legislators.
