Police on Wednesday morning left Jimi Wanjigi’s home after a siege that began on Monday at midday. NASA leader Raila Odinga spend the night at Wanjigi’s home in Muthaiga after police refused to leave the premise on Tuesday night despite a High Court order restraining them from the home.

Police had laid a siege on the Nairobi home of Wanjigi as they sought to arrest him over the discovery and seizure of five rifles and 93 bullets from a villa in Malindi.

More police arrived at Jimmy Wanjigi’s Muthaiga home in Nairobi on Tuesday accompanied by crime busters with sledge hammers planning to break into the house. Mr Wanjigi has since denied that the Malindi villa belongs to him.

While at Wanjigi’s compound, the former Prime Minister asked officers to obey the court order and leave the residence. An agitated Raila indicated that the officers were operating outside the law and were applying rule of the jungle.
