Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria denies link to Mungiki

Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria has denied any links with the outlawed Mungiki sect.

Mr Kuria yesterday termed as 'utter fabrication' claims by National Super Alliance (NASA) MPs that he was organising the sect to disrupt the coalition’s electoral reform protests in Nairobi.

The Opposition yesterday alleged that Mr Kuria held a meeting with the sect members from Banana, Ndonyo, and other parts of Kikuyu constituency on Monday night so that they can cause chaos and blame it on Opposition supporters.

But Kuria said he was in Nakuru leading the Mbele Iko Sawa lobby group, which is campaigning for President Uhuru Kenyatta’s re-election.

He said there were no more active Mungiki members in any part of the country.

“We spent the whole of yesterday (Monday) campaigning in Nakuru before we retreated to a hotel in the evening. I have never associated with Mungiki,” said Kuria.

He claimed that the Opposition was keen on causing chaos in the country, link it to Mungiki, and blame other people for the violence.

“NASA is setting a script to drag Kenya back to the International Criminal Court. They want to create chaos then blame some people for it,” said Kuria.
