The National Super Alliance (NASA) has vowed that presidential results in the forthcoming repeat election will not be transported to Nairobi to be announced.

According to the NASA brigade, results will counted, tallied and announced at the constituency level.

Led by the Opposition chief, Raila Odinga, NASA also warned the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) that results must not be transmitted via text as was done in some places in the bungled August 8 General Election.

"The results will not be transported to Nairobi. The results will be counted and announced at the constituency level. We don't want results transmitted in text format, only forms 34A and B in accordance with the law," demanded Siaya Senator James Orengo in a rally on Friday at Ahindi gardens, Siaya County.

Staff at the embattled electoral body re-united on Monday after several weeks of conflict between them.

Commissioners at the IEBC resolved to work together to deliver a free, fair and credible repeat presidential election on October 17.

Speaking after a retreat, the IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati indicated that the commission discussed issues that surrounded the August 8 election and will ensure there will be a smooth process come next month.

The chairman also divulged that the commission’s CEO Ezra Chiloba will oversee the new project team.

“We have agreed to review and streamline the operationalisation of the project team for purposes of efficient and effective delivery of the fresh presidential election. The CEO has been tasked to assess the implementation challenges that were experienced during the just concluded General Election and propose a project implementation framework that is aligned with the existing organisational structure,” stated Chebukati.
