Orengo: DPP Tobiko should order probe on President Uhuru

Siaya Senator James Orengo has asked Director of Public Prosecutions Keriako Tobiko to order investigations on President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto to establish their roles in the bungled August 8 elections.

Orengo, who was the lead counsel in the NASA presidential petition, said revelations from the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) showed top Jubilee leaders were involved in election malpractices and should be prosecuted.

“Mr Tobiko should order police to record statements from President Kenyatta and his Deputy now that we have confirmed that the elections were rigged,” he said.

This comes in the wake of a memo IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati wrote to CEO Ezra Chiloba, demanding explanations on certain issues concerning the elections.

In the meantime, Orengo said President Kenyatta should step a side to enable the DPP’s office investigate his role.

“It is now clear that the election was won by Raila Odinga. President Kenyatta stole our victory then arranged with external observers such as John Kerry and Thabo Mbeki to sanitise his fraud. These observers are fake and should apologise to Kenyans,” said the senator.

He was speaking at Kanyaluo in Karachuonyo, Homa Bay County, during the burial of Mzee Richard Asiyo, husband of former area MP Phoebe Asiyo.

Homa Bay Woman Rep Gladys Wanga said NASA should boycott the election if Chiloba is not fired.
