Police are investigating a break-in at the Nyamira County's treasury offices in which six computers were stolen.

The officers were working to unravel the mystery theft in the well-guarded offices.

Operations at the offices came to a standstill as security officers dusted surfaces for fingerprints.

Nyamira South OCPD Riko Ngare said the gangsters did not break the door to the offices, an indication that the theft was an inside job.

According to Governor John Nyagarama, only computers were stolen. He expressed confidence that the culprits would be known soon.

COUNTY TREASURY

The governor has ordered an audit of the county treasury as he prepares to reorganise his government.

He said the office holders will be investigated and action taken against those found guilty.

"We have handed over the matter to the police and we believe they will find the culprits," said Mr Nyagarama, who was accompanied by his deputy, Amos Nyaribo.

Five computers were stolen from the finance department and three others from the lands and planning sections.

Nyagarama said he had ordered an audit of all the county's department's before new officials take over as he restructures his government.
