Man shot dead on a wines and spirit depot in Salgaa trading center

Crime scene

NAKURU, KENYA: A man was shot dead by armed criminals who raided a wines and spirits depot at Salgaa trading centre over the weekend.

Rongai police boss Joseph Kioko said the two criminals had posed as clients but after gaining entry into the depot, they whipped out an AK-47 rifle and ordered the owner of the depot to hand them the day's collection.

After being given Sh20,000, the thugs ransacked the premise and warned the business owner not to raise the alarm.

As they searched the premise, a client walked in but on seeing the criminals, he ran off screaming for help.

The two pursued and shot him dead approximately 200m away before escaping towards Njoro town on a motorcycle. Traders in Salgaa have over the past two months complained of increased crime.
