Raila Odinga under fire again at the late Kijana Wamalwa's memorial

NASA presidential candidate and ODM leader Raila Odinga was among the leaders who were present to mark the 14th anniversary of former Vice President Kijana Wamalwa’s death at his Kitale home on 23rd August 2017.

Raila, who filed a petition at the Supreme Court challenging the results of the presidential election as announced by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission became the subject of criticism, with leaders asking him to withdraw his petition and move on.

According to the leaders, it was unfair for Raila to slam the Supreme Court and direct it on how to handle the petition.

Former Cabinet Minister Musikari Kombo said that the petition NASA filed at the Supreme Court was meant to cause chaos in the country. He also supported IEBC’s decision saying that it was clear Uhuru Kenyatta won the August 8th presidential election.

Other Members of Parliament including Richard Tongi, Dan Wanyama, John Waluke and Ben Washiali also asked the NASA flag bearer to respect whatever decision the Supreme Court will make, insisting that Uhuru won fair and square.

The memorial mass was directed by Maurice Crowley, the Kitale Catholic Bishop and also in attendance was Water and Irrigation Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa, former Budalang’i MP Ababu Namwamba and Ken Lusaka the Bungoma Governor.

Leaders also asked for enough time to be given to the Supreme Court in order for the judges to make a fair and concrete decision.

The late Kijana Wamalwa served as Vice President for eight months before dying in a London Hospital of illness in the year 2002.
