President Uhuru Kenyatta has asked Kenyans to go back to work and forget about the just concluded General Election and focus on building the nation.

President Kenyatta also asked police officers to avoid using excessive force but provide security during peaceful and lawful protests by those dissatisfied with results of the just-concluded General Election.

“I appeal to all those who have rejected the outcome of the election to realise that we are all Kenyans. I extend a hand of peace and friendship to them. The police are ready to give security during peaceful protests and the aggrieved should realise they do not need my permission or that of Jubilee to hold peaceful protests,” he said.

The Head of State said that looters and people destroying property will be dealt with according to the law and that the State will not tolerate any loss of lives.

“Many Kenyans desire to go back to their normal lives. They do not want violent demonstrations,” he said.

He also lauded the Kenyan team that participated in the 2017 IAAF World Championships that ended on Sunday in London.
