Raila endorses Governor Ojaamong for second term

The National Super Alliance (NASA) flag-bearer Raila Odinga has endorsed Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong and Woman Representative Florence Mutua for re-election.

During the alliance’s last tour of Busia County on Thursday, Raila also urged the electorate to vote only for NASA candidates for various seats.

“NASA has five parties, so make sure you vote for only candidates under our alliance,” he said.

Ojaamong and Mutua are both in the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).

During the rally at Malaba Dispensary, Raila raised the hands of the duo and told the gathering that they were his choice for Governor and Woman Representative positions.

Ojaamong is battling it out with his fierce critic, Funyula MP Paul Otuoma, who is running as an independent. Their rivalry escalated after the April ODM primaries, whose results Otuoma disputed.

Otuoma, who has also been a Raila ally, has told Ojaamong to brace for a titanic battle

But Ojaamong assured his supporters that he is going to beat Otuoma “hands down”.

“I stood at this venue (Malaba Dispensary) and told you I was going to beat Otuoma in the nominations and I did. I am standing here again to tell you I am going to beat him on Tuesday,” said the governor.

He said in Busia, no politician was closer to Raila and had worked with him for more years than he had. He was Raila’s personal assistant before joining politics in 2002.

Ojaamong and Otuoma have accused each other of poor performance.

While Otuoma insists Governor Ojaamong has underperfomed, the county boss challenged the MP to mention any project he initiated when he was a Cabinet minister. Ojaamong recently launched his score card and exuded confidence he will win
