For the next four days, attention of golf enthusiasts will shift to Uganda for the annual Victoria Golf Cup Championships.
Golfers will need to be in their best form as the battle for glory at the par 71-18 hole Entebbe Golf Club from today. The tournament will end on Saturday.
The Entebbe club, which was founded in 1901, is among the oldest in East Africa. Kenya Golf Union chairman Richard Wanjalla, his deputy Lucas Maranga, head coach John Patrick van Liefland and a 10-man team arrived at the venue on Monday, ready to defend the title. The team is captained by Kenya Railways' Afred Nandwa.
Others in the team are John Karichu (Limuru Country Club), Mike Kisia (Vet lab Sports Club), Samuel Njoroge (Kenya Railways Golf Club), Edwin Mudanyi (Vet Lab Sports Club), Kenneth Bollo (Royal Nairobi Golf Club), Dennis Saikwa (Royal Nairobi Golf Club) and Jeff Kubwa (Muthaiga Golf Club).
