Everton have beaten Arsenal to the signing of Nigerian starlet Henry Onyekuru.

The 20-year-old was the top scorer in Belgium last term and has attracted interest from the Emirates.

West Ham were also keen on the KAS Eupen striker but Everton have beaten them to the transfer.

Oneykuru completed a medical at Goodison Park on Monday evening with the deal agreed.

He is set to cost the club around £6.8million as Ronald Koeman continues his summer spending - but is expected to spend next season on loan at Anderlecht.

Earlier this summer, Onyekuru insisted he would only move to a club where he would play regularly.

“The first and most important thing for a player is to get playing time," he said.

"I’m still young and I still have a long career to pursue but now I need to play. It’s not just about going to a big club and sitting on the bench."
