But USIU Tigers show their might as they sink reigning champions KPA.

Newly promoted sides Umoja and Zetech found the going tough in their Kenya Basketball Federation (KBF) men’s Premier League matches at Nyayo stadium in Nairobi at the weekend when they all went down to top boys.

Ulinzi Warriors beat Zetech 76-63 while Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) beat Umoja 71-54.

The biggest reapers of the weekend were the United States International University (USIU) Tigers who defeated reigning champions KPA and resurgent side Equity Bank.

Visiting KPA failed to tackle USIU Tigers who triumphed with a 79-72 score line. This was the second match the star-studded KPA were losing in a row after going down to Co-op Bank Spartans in Mombasa the weekend before.

USIU Tigers started the game on a wrong foot, losing the opening quarter 16-11 to the dockers who also clinched the second quarter 16-8.

The students, however, strengthened their defence on resumption after the halftime break, winning the third quarter with a 31-13 landslide. KPA managed to win the fourth quarter 17-12 to take the game to overtime where USIU beat them 16-10 to emerge victorious.
