Three people were at the weekend killed in two separate presidential events as police ‘tamed insecurity’.

In one of the incidents, there have been questions whether the presidential security teams had listened to intelligence provided on the situation on the ground.

Two of the men were accused of being robbers and were killed on Friday in Karen, where President Uhuru Kenyatta attended the funeral of Reverend John Gatu of the Presbyterian Church of East Africa.

According to the police, the two were breaking into vehicles belonging to mourners when police were alerted.

Police cornered them

Karen OCPD Cinningham Suiyanka said when police confronted the men, they took off in a car.

They drove to a road that led them to a dead end, where police cornered them and shot them.

On Saturday evening, security personnel that was clearing the way for the President shot dead a man in Isiolo County.

The man was killed during political procession along the Marsabit–Garba Tulla junction in Isiolo that was led by Abdul Bahari, a Jubilee governor candidate. Ibrahim Mohamend Huka, 21, was shot in the head and died on the spot.
