Gaza gangsters planning to kill Kayole tough cop

County_Nairobi

Members of the outlawed Gaza gang operating in parts of Nairobi’s Eastlands are planning to kill a tough police officer based at Soweto Police Post in Kayole.

Three members of the gang have been assigned to execute the no-nonsense cop who has determinedly crushed the Gaza and Portmore gangs in the area. The cop is said to have refused to take bribes to turn a blind eye on their criminal activities.

A confidential alert, that we managed to get access to, from police top office to OCPDs in Eastlands on April 19 reads in part: “Gaza gang led by Swaleh, Ng’ang’a and Gideon Kioko are planning assassination of (name withheld), police officer based at Soweto Police Post, Kayole.” The alert went on: “They accuse him of targeting members of the gang and is not willing to be compromised by the group, hence should be eliminated”.

However, the intelligence report has not been taken seriously by the police bosses in Eastlands, according to a senior police officer who has worked with the said cop.

He told The Nairobian that the matter is being treated casually by his bosses despite a call by Nairobi police commander Japheth Koome to have the trio dealt with.

“As of now, the officer’s life is in danger and he is on his own. Nearly all officers including his boss have chickened out, and information available is that the three gangsters are freely roaming in the estates,” said the cop who sought anonymity.

In March, Police Constable Boniface Okech of Soweto Police Post and Corporal Japheth Mwiti of Kayole Police Station were shot dead by Gaza members. Samuel Kagwanja alias Chairman who is alleged to be the gang’s ringleader has gone into hiding in Kitengela.

“Kagwanja is in Kitengela and is said to go about his business freely as cops dedicated to taming crime are threatened and killed,” the officer lamented.
