Thank God I lost in the nominations; I can work with the next president

 Butere Mp Andrew Toboso.

Political parties’ primaries across the country have been dramatic. Agents have been busted with printed ballot papers and cases of violence have been reported from all over the country.

Joining the long list of losing complainants is Butere Member of Parliament Andrew Toboso who now claims he was rigged out in favour of his opponent Habil Nanjendo.

But the MP does not regret the loss, claiming that, “Maybe God wanted me to run as an independent candidate so that I can work with any elected president.” This, he couldn’t do as an ODM loyalist.

“I can predict that there will be many candidates who will be going it alone in this elections. Ultimately, ODM will have few elected leaders in the assemblies, both at the county and national level,” Toboso said.

He claimed that the manner in which the ballot papers were printed was a clear display of favouritism against him. He says that the names of the candidates should have been listed alphabetically on the ballot papers.

He wonders how a competitor’s name which starts with the letter ‘H’ was the first on the ballot paper.

“I was not surprised that Habil which starts with ‘H’ came first. This was outright rigging,” Toboso insisted.

He claimed that the party’s election board had been compromised in many instances, from Busia where Dr Paul Otuoma disputed his loss to Governor Sospeter Ojaamong, to Khwisero in Kakamega, where an MCA was declared a winner.

“I will be the chairman of independent candidates, who will form the ‘third political force’ that will determine the next president of this country,” Toboso told The Nairobian.
