A former University of Nairobi law student has sued the institution for allegedly confiscating and detaining his certificate.

Inganga Alfred Arunga says, in affidavits filed before a Kisumu High Court that a senior university official confiscated the certificate, over claims it may have been forged.

This, he said, had subjected him to emotional torture and delayed his plans to register for post-graduate studies at the Kenya School of Law.

Kisumu High Court Judge, Justice David  Majanja has now issued fresh summons to Vice Chancellor Peter Mbithi to appear before him on April 25, 2017.

Mr Arunga also claimed that the university's delay in releasing his certificates had jeopardised his admission to the Kenya School of Law and portrayed him as a fraudulent person.
