Why Mombasa Sex workers are unhappy with men.

Sex workers in Mombasa are unhappy over the killing of their colleague at Casablanca club at the coastal city's center.

Speaking to the media in Mombasa on Tuesday when they staged a demonstration at the club's entrance, their leaders called on the government to intervene on the murder of a woman whom they identified as Martha saying they were not ready to quit the business.

They revealed that the deceased was a mother of one and that she had been abandoned by the unidentified father of her child compelling her into the body business.

"It is a man who sired her child and abandoned them into penury leaving her with no option but getting into this business and it is a man who has again taken her life," said their spokesperson at the demonstrations.

She said they had been issued with loans of Sh 10,000 to facilitate them into running formal businesses in the county but had failed in the ventures as market places turned out to be unfavorable to them forcing most of them to get back to the streets.

They said they deserve to be respected not only by their clients but also by the general public as they have embraced safety measures in their business, labeling any disregard or mistreatment to anyone of them as a violation of their rights.

This, she said, is because they had applied safety and contraceptives in their business and ensured those who had contacted ailments received medication and necessary care, urging the government to protect them from various risks while at work.
