The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has promised to investigate and charge eight governors.

Without disclosing the exact timelines for the cases, EACC revealed that the process of bringing the county chiefs to book had already begun.

Speaking at the Siaya County assembly during the launch of a leadership and integrity regulations implementation workshop, EACC Nyanza and Western Regional Manager Benson Murei said they would also investigate Kisumu MCAs who took a "bonding" trip to Tanzania last month.

"We will look into the issue of those MCAs and find out if it is something worth investigating. We already picked up the issue from the media and we're looking into it," said Mr Murei.

"Public entities continue to struggle with serious ethical challenges and that is why we will continue to upscale our weaponry and intensify our efforts to ensure that corruption and unethical conduct are uprooted."
