The race for the Nairobi County Governorship has intensified ahead of the next general election. Former Gatanga MP, Peter Kenneth appear has declared his interest in becoming the Nairobi new boss.According to Peter Kenneth, he is a resident of Nairobi and that is a place he feels he can bring sanity.

Nairobi senator Mike sonko has dimissed peter Kenneth who was a former member of paliarment of Gatanga. Sonko told Peter Kenneth he is not ready to shelf his ambitions as an aspiring governor for Nairobi county in favor of anybody.

 While addressing the media on Monday Sonko said that he is ready to face off anybody at the nominations and if he loses he will support whoever will win.Accordingto him Peter Kenneth approached him wanting him to support him and leave contesting for Nairobi governorship.

He said that Kenneth wanted him to run retain his position as the Nairobi senator.Sonko allegedely said that Peter Kenneth,the former presidential aspirant offered him 1 Billion Donor funds so that he could step down and let him (Kenneth) vie for the Nairobi gubernatorial seat.

The Nairobi senator said that he had early on told Peter Kenneth to break his political part and join Jubilee party but Kenneth refused to buy the idea.Sonko said that Peter Kenneth was a traitor and somebody who wants to utilize the opportunity of supporting president Uhuru Kenyatta to gain politically.

According to Sonko, he is the favourite candidate to win the Nairobi governorship from the current governor Evans Kidero.He further said that they have natured the party and see it grow hence they cannot allow an intruder to come and take over from them.

At a church service in Roisambu on Sunday former Gatanga MP Peter Kenneth formally declared his interest in the Nairobi governors' seat. He said that Nairobi needs a manager like him.He lashed at Sonko for saying that he is not a resident of Nairobi.

 Most of Jubilee leaders are uncomfortable with Kenneth’s entry into the scene. Other aspirants eyeing the same seat within Jubilee are realigning themselves ahead of party nominations. There are reports that they want to agree on one person who will take on Kidero.

Elsewhere Gatundu South member of parliament Moses Kuria has urged the residents of Nairobi not to vote for Kenneth. “It was wrong for politician Peter Kenneth to come from nowhere and declare he will vie for Nairobi governor on a Jubilee ticket” said Kuria.

Meanwhile, the ruling jubilee coalition has a hard time during the nomination process between the current Nairobi Senator Mike Mbuvi Sonko, Dagoretti South MP Dennis Waweru, Nominated MP Johnson Sakaja and former Starehe MP Bishop Margaret Wanjiru have all shown interest.
