Gor Mahia and Harambee Stars wingback, Eric “Marcelo” Ouma, was a special guest at an event called to hand over a donation of books to Mathare 4A children.

The initiative, dubbed Sober for Books and founded by Supersport’s head of camera department, Francis Ngira, challenges his friends and revellers to forego drinks for four hours for a good cause.

Ngira’s challenge saw a number of his friends and fans of his blog assemble at the Klub House K1 - Ojijo road, Nairobi to celebrate one year since he quit alcohol. The initiative has since paid off and Gor Mahia and Harambee Stars wingback, Ouma, took time off to be with the slum children to encourage them pursue their dream, having also grown up in Kibera slums.

“I encourage you to read these books we have brought you today, and I promise you the results will never be the same again,” Kenya Premier League’s New Player of the year 2016, said.

“The only way to come out of this slum life into what you always yearn for, is by striking a perfect balance between your talent and the books you see on these shelves,” added the soft spoken Kenyan international.
