Mathare United and Posta Rangers each won as the third edition of the Kenyan Premier League Under-20 tournament started at Camp Toyoyo grounds yesterday.

Mathare who are the defending champions whacked Muhoroni Youth 4-0 while Rangers edged out Gor Mahia 2-1.

Two goals each by Abdalla Ahmed and David Ouma were enough to give the champions victory.

Mathare dominated from the word go and the first goal was worked out well from the midfield.

Jerome Mwanzo picked out an unmarked Mangalo Ongori who sent in a long ball that found Ahmed who simply headed home the opener in the 29th minute.

Ten minutes later, Ahmed was on the mark again this time with a low shot past Taribo West in Muhoroni Youth goal.

Any hope that Muhoroni Youth had of coming back in the second half were quickly thwarted when Ouma made it 3-0 for the winners in the 48th minute.

Gor Mahia were clearly the favourites in this match considering that they were playing in a venue where they were assured of fanatical support.

Goalkeeping blunders by Ismail Otieno cost Gor Mahia the first goal.
