Good outing as various golfers emerge winners across the country

Paulynne Kabuga braved the chilly weather at the par 72 Karen Golf Course to emerge the overall winner of the first Alex Kabuga Memorial trophy in a challenging golf tournament played on Saturday.

Playing off handicap 18, the home lady golfer returned an excellent score of 40 stable ford points to beat a team of 120 golfers.

The day long long 18 holes event was hosted by the club in memory of their late member Alex Kabuga and the founding Chief Executive Officer of Kentrade who died last year in October, 24th.

Paulynne who is the widow of the late sank two birdies , one in each of the nines, then rolled five level pars to claim the trophy despite playing a mixed bogey shots on the rest of the holes.

“Am happy about the win, but most important was event was able to bring on board most friends of my late husband and I thank them,” said Paulynne.

At the par 72 Leisure Lodge Resort Course in South Coast of Mombasa on Saturday, home club’s handicap 28 Johnnie Hunter posted 39 points to emerge the overall winner of the 2016 Heritage Insurance sponsored tournament.

In Nyeri, guest golfer Maurice Gitari shot an authoritative round of 43 (22+21) stable ford points to win the 24 edition of the UAP Old mutual golf day played at par 72 Nyeri Golf club over the weekend.

Gitari a member of the Karen Country Club attributed his win to an early round after emerging third overall with 37 points during the clubnite on Friday sponsored by legislator Kanini Kega before prevailing upon a field of over ninety golfers in the daylong tourney.

James Wangondu playing off handicap 25, took the men winners prize on 42 (19+23) stable ford points, Engineer Kenneth Chege was Men second on 38 (18+20) stable ford points, Sir George Kibira was Men third on 37 (17+20) stable ford points, Samuel Githitu was men fourth on 18+19) stable ford points.

Nanyuki golf club Peter Mwangi playing off 2 was the Gross winner with 79 Gross, as UAP Unit manager Stephen Gathara bagged the staff prize with 34 stable ford points.

Nyeri club Lady Captain maintained her winning streak to claim the Lady Winners prize on 37 (17+20) stable ford points after claiming the same last weekend during the Mary Wangui golf day,

Lady second prize went to handicap 6 Stella Mwangi on 32 (18+14) stable ford points as Jane Nderitu settled for Lady winner third prize on 24 (14+140 stable ford points.

Ladies Longest Drive and the Longest Drive men prizes went to Lucy Wamuyu and Mwangi Gathu respectively and Patrick Wamae took the First Nine with 21 points and Father Antony Munene bagging the Second Nine with 21 points.
