How a thief sought to kill two birds with one stone

Mrs. Janet Zalafini “(not her real name) is married to Tom Zalafini (also not his real name), both are career hoteliers at the respective places of work. Mrs Zarafini works late into the night hence during the day she spends time in bed trying to reduce some sleepiness, while Mr. Zalafini returns home from work earlier than his wife.

Consequently, the onus falls on the husband to prepare breakfast for their daughter early in the morning and subsequently taking her to a local school.

Let me tell, you it occurred in Mtwapa upon the above mentioned couple whose identity has been concealed for years of suffering from embarrassment.

It’s about 8:30 am Friday in the morning when everyone is busy going about their business. The Zalafini couple stays in a bed-sitter house in a Swahili type of a house with a common entrance.

The place is serene, with some neighbors having left and an exception of few who seem to be in a hurry to leave the residence Mrs. Zalafini is asleep with ear phones on from her touch screen LG phone worth 19, 000.suddenly, out of blue, an intruder well dressed with time that Mr. Zalafini goes to and from school gains entry through a door that is slightly a jar, and walk pigeon-hooded up to the bed.

On top of chest of drawers of the bed in Mr. Zalafini’s wallet containing Ksh.13000 as his advance salary and their daughter’s mobile phone Nokia worth Ksh.5, 999.the thief reaches out to it, after peering into it, stuffs it into his side pocket pair of long trouser. Thereafter, having caught sight of how Mrs. Zalafini lay on the bed with only bra on and a pant, the thief had another idea in his head -violating Mrs. Zalafini sexually.

‘I felt a blanket settling over me ,pressing me against the bed, my attempts to breath were quite pitiful ,uncoordinated heaves and with utter tremor, I realized I was being suffocated Mrs.’ Zalafini told this writer.

The thief according to Mrs. Zalafini was hooded, stocky and athletic looking man hence using brute force, the thief managed to strip Mrs.Zalafini off her pant, however, realizing that she was almost violated, she used her last vestige of strength to heave off the thief from her body, as panic and desperation filled the thief, its then that the thief ran out.

While trying to come to terms with sudden turn of events in the house, Mrs. Zalafini realized that whatever was wrong with her was worsening. At this juncture, the thief’s aim was to seek to kill two birds with one stone.

‘The thief in desperation and beastly attitude with pants down and aroused held me down at the throat and tried to tighten his grip in order to weaken me in my struggle against being raped,’ added Mrs. Zalafini.

Mrs. Zalafini says she chocked, and when the thief realized that the chances of him violating her were infinitesimally small, subject to the struggle, he bolted. But the Mrs. Zalafins’ neighbors, as it turned out to be a whisper from a painful threat barely audible.

The thief left the house Ksh.13,000 richer and two mobile phones to boot. Meanwhile, Mrs. Zalafini continued to shout incoherently, thief! Thief! As she psychologically meditated what had been visited on herself. As she looked for clothes to wear tears flowed freely.

She wondered what would have happened if it were here daughter and cried more. By the time Mrs. Zalafini got out of the house the thief had vanished in thin air. Then the husband Mr. Zalafini arrived from school only to find his wife weaving a long face, a sign of emotional distraught.

‘What is the problem?’ Asked Mr. Zalafini to which Mrs. Zalafini tearfully replied, ‘a hooded thief almost raped me’ Mr. Zalafini painstakingly calmed his wife down. The couple then made a conscious effort and reported the matter at the Mtwapa Police Station.
