Airline to launch first flight to Homa Bay ahead of conference

Baracuda Airways will launch flights to Homa Bay County on Thursday next week ahead of the county's International Investment Conference slated for February.

The airline's Chief Executive Officer John Majiwa said the company has since signed an agreement with the National Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and other stakeholders.

"There will be scheduled flights to Homa Bay, Kisii and Migori and we will introduce shuttles to transport the passengers from the airstrip," said Mr Majiwa.

The three-day investment forum, which will take place from February 18 to 20 is expected to open up the county to development and tourism.

Homabay Governor Cyprian Awiti said the county has lined up a series of activities to woo investors.

"The county government has a variety of incentives for the investors who would choose Homa Bay as their investment destination. Two airlines; Baracuda Airways and Fly540 will start flying passengers to the county. Kabunde airstrip has been refurbished and plans to expand its runaway are underway. This will also give doctors, lecturers and consultants an opportunity to travel to the county and come back the same day," said Mr Awiti.

The vision of the summit is to industrialise the county using natural and agricultural resources.
