With the coming in of the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) in Naivasha, area leaders are warning of a rise in land disputes.

Mai Mahiu, Longonot, Ndabibi and Moi Ndabi areas have been identified as the most affected, with the cases rising by the day.

This came as members of the farming and pastoralist community living in Mai Mahiu clashed over pasture and water.

According to the chairman Nakuru County youth forum Charles Mburu, the conflicts in Mai Mahiu were being caused by the recent discovery of geothermal power.

He warned that this could get out of hand if the issue was not resolved fast and amicably, noting that politicians were involved in the issue.
