Committee on Finance Bill to be formed

Business people in Kiambu sub-county have recommended the formation of a team comprising all stakeholders to tackle thorny issues in the Finance Bill 2015-16.

This came up during a public participation forum at the county headquarters attended by stakeholders from different fields.

Evans Kariithi, a trader at Ting’ang’a shopping centre said, “Instead of wasting time, why don’t we select a team made up of all stakeholders to sit with the finance department and come up with a solution,” said Kariithi.

County Chief of Staff Sammy Onyango told business people that their plight would be looked into as per the recommendations.

Mr Onyango advised them (traders) to be attending public participation forums to air their views instead of keeping off and later politicising the decisions made by the county.

James Gacheru, a businessman in Kiambu town, asked revenue officers to be withdrawing the licences of traders who fail to pay levies on time but not confiscating their goods.
