Four primary school pupils arrested in Isiolo for threatening to bomb school

Isiolo, Kenya: Four primary school boys, who allegedly threatened to bomb their school in Isiolo, have been arrested by police after being on the run for four days.

What started as a small indiscipline case at St Kizito Primary School in Isiolo Town last Friday, degenerated into a terror alert, after the boys left threatening message for the head teacher, John Macharia, vowing to bomb the school.

The school is sponsored by the Catholic Diocese of Isiolo since 1969.

The hand written message, which a female teacher said belongs to one of the boys, was slipped under the door to the head teacher's office on Sunday.

''Do not joke with us, we will bomb this school,'' read part of the message the boys left for the head-teacher.

The four boys aged between 13 and 16 years were summoned by Mr Macharia after they threatened their two deputy head teachers a day earlier.

They were sent home to bring their parents but vanished.

They never went home and did not come to school on Monday.

''They are all set to sit for KCPE (Kenya Certificate of Primary Education). They authored a letter addressed to the school indicating the day when the school will be attacked,'' said Isiolo County Commissioner Wanyama Musiambo, Tuesday.

Mr Musiambo said; ''These boys have not been attending classes while their parents thought they were in school. Initial probe shows that they have been whiling away in town (Isiolo) watching movies in some dens and also visiting cyber café''.

The administrator said the boys were arrested on Monday evening adding that police have already launched investigation.

''We have talked to their parents and picked their phones as two of the boys had phones.,'' said a police officer who is probing the matter but declined to be identified.

"Where there is smoke, there is fire. We want to know more from these boys,'' said Musiambo.
