Bahati MP denies locking out MCAs during Ruto tour

NAKURU: Bahati MP Kimani Ngunjiri has denied claims that he locked out members of the county assembly (MCAs) from his home when he hosted Deputy President William Ruto last Saturday.

The legislator said the DP had a very tight schedule that made him skip some projects he was supposed to commission.

He was speaking after funds drive in aid of St Peter's ACK Church in Kiamunyi attended by Secretary to the Cabinet Francis Kimemia.

A group of MCAs who went to the MP's home in Bahati hoping to meet Ruto were shocked after they were turned away and informed it was an invite-only function.

"We had hoped to talk with the Deputy President but on arrival at the gate we were told it was an invite-only function," said one of the MCAs.

Relations between him and the MCAs have been frosty ever since.

But Mr Ngunjiri warned against introducing politics into the issue, saying they had a chance to meet the DP in other forums.

SEVERAL FORUMS

"They had a chance to greet the Deputy President in several forums.

"But I dont like the way they move around in a group yet the campaigns are three years away. They should not politicise the issue," he said.

The MP who has been embroiled in a supremacy war with the Speaker accused her of attempting to politicise development issues in the constituency.

He urged Kimemia to continue with his development agenda and not succumb to 'blackmail' by people claiming he was interested in one of the major seats in the county.
